I'm back
I'm back. Back from the motherland, Dominican Republic. It was a magical vacation. I spent time with lots of family. Catched up with my best friend from 3rd grade and enjoyed the beaches and waterfalls of my island. It was great weather, I ate A LOT ( and not a lot of crap, which is a good change). I felt very happy to be there but once I got to New York City last Friday evening I got this warm feeling inside. The kind of 'belonging' feeling. I honestly love my country, its rich culture, its beautiful weather, and its breathtaking spots but I've come to realize that Manhattan is my true island. I love this city, yea it doesn't have any beautiful beaches and it has a time period were it's cold as fuck but nevertheless it's a beautiful city. Yesterday evening I took a walk down by the Hudson River by the George Washington Bridge and I watched the sun set, It was as breathtaking as the sun setting in DR. I truly don't have to go far to find beauty, it's here. It's in the corner bodega, it's in the faces of my students, it's in the sunset in the park. Honestly, fuck CENTRAL PARK! It ain't got nothing on Riverbank park. (Shot outs to Washington Heights!) So that's my little epiphany. I love the Dominican Republic, it's where my soul found it's true meaning but New York, ahh New York, It's the place I'm meant to be in for a LONG time.
