Listening & Hearing.

"What are you holding out for?
What's always in the way?
Why so damn absent-minded?
Why so scared of romance?

This modern love breaks me
This modern love wastes me"
-Block Party

I love Block Party.
a lot.
If you don't know about them, get on it. They're dope. Unless you don't like alternative rock/pop, but you should still give them a listen. I was on my way to go see In The Heights last night (btw I was in the 5th row and Corbin Bleu looked like a manifestion in the makings...oh how I long for him!) when this^ song came on my ipod and I hadn't listened to it in ages. When I say listen, I mean really hear the words. For the past year it seems like my ipod has been on but I haven't really been listening. I have more than 100 CD's and more than 4000 songs on my ipod and still, I've been distracted with the world--not in a good way. But I'm back, and I'm going to really LISTEN to music again. I'm going to remember why I fell in love with hip-hop in the first place, listen to my countries merengue tipicos, rock to Block Party and the Ataris, and jam out to the new Sade and await for Erykah's explosive album to drop next week.

Dear music,

I'm sorry for taking you for granted.
I didn't mean to.
The world was drifting me apart from you.
But I'm back. I promise not to do this again.

Love,
Pricelis
