Bob Marley almost had a viruolist way of thinking. He believed that you can cure-actually cure hate and racism, by injecting it with love and music. Two days before Bob Marley was supposed to perform he was shot. Two days later he walked on stage and performed and they asked him in an interview why didn't he rest, and he said "The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I. Light up the darkness".
-will smith had said that in the movie "I am Legend".
I think about this mini story and i get so inspired and saddened at the same fact. Inspired because of what Bob Marley did and how he did it. Sad because people still don't believe the cure actually is love music. I truly believe that the cure is love and music because just because I don't go to church anymore doesn't mean I don't read the bible, it says "Ama a tu projimo como a si mismo" meaning love your neighbor or enemy as much as you would love yourself and if people actually took those words into emphasis then I do believe people could slowly become less racist and hateful towards others. But hey this is a f***ed up world with not many people that believe love heals.
Now music, music is powerful! It's a set of words with a beat flowing with it telling people a story, or giving advice, or teaching people, or just in general helping people out with anything they are going through. Hip Hop impacts me like that every day because I love Hip Hop just like my Latino music gets me happy too it reminds me of the latino history and all the hate and racism that just among latinos there is, unfortunetly. Rock rolls my soul as well, don't get it twsited, I'm not a one type of music lover. I love french music too! I got some baladas in my zune you will find a lot of different things in my collection, as I say "I jam to EVERYTHING" because everything can give you a different feeling and a different way of looking at things, listening to just one type of music is cool but always making sure that you aren't judging others for the music they are into. I'm down to listen to anything because I love music....and'm not talking about radio 2000's music, I'm talking about real lyrical beat that doesn't sound like every other song type of music. The music that will touch me and not just make me wanna dance outside but wanna make me dance inside too. Music is something real and it's def something real that can cure hate and racism....it just takes time.
